Transforming these derelict listed buildings into luxury accommodation presented one of the most ambitious projects the team at Richard James have undertaken to-date.

Set in the heart of Durham city centre this extraordinary feat involved the creation and installation of an awe-inspiring five-meter-tall and two-and-a-half-meter-wide sliding sash window. To accommodate both structures, a wide mullion was integrated, seamlessly bridging the properties’ party wall and allowing a harmonious coexistence.

Beyond the sheer magnitude, the undertaking encompassed intricate challenges, from meticulous manufacturing to daring transportation, all while contending with the rigors of winter.

Our next venture will involve installing an additional window adjacent to the residential property, further enhancing the collective architectural tapestry.
